Migrations of Hungarian Peasants

M /rODERN migration may be classified as plantation, pioneer, and urban, according to the economy into which additional population elements are being introduced. The movement of Hungarian peasants from their native habitat is significant in that inside the cultural as well as the political limits of the migrants' homeland all three general types of migration are taking place. Emigration of Hungarian peasants to other countries, however, has been largely, though by no means entirely, of the urban type. The sudden change from the environment of peasant communities to that of highly industrialized cities has brought the emigrants into close contact with other cultural groups and has created for them new problems of economic and social adjustment
