L'A. fait le constat selon lequel la sociologie de la mobilite n'a pris en compte pratiquement aucune dimension feminine. Elle s'est reduite a l'analyse de la mobilite des hommes, minorant ainsi le champ d'etude sociologique de la stratification sociale. L'A. critique cette carence et met en evidence l'importante et unique contribution des femmes dans le processus de mobilite professionnellle intergenerationnelle, au Royaume-Uni en particulier
