Radiocarbon dates from archaeological rat bones

AMS radiocarbon determinations on rat bone gelatin from Pleasant River, New Zealand, are presented. These differ significantly from radiocarbon ages for the same deposits on multiple samples of other materials, and in conjunction with previously reported data from Shag River Mouth show a consistent pattern of divergence between the results from two laboratories suggesting that pretreatment or other laboratory procedures may have influenced the results
