A four-level source-criticism on the sequence of Rangpur, still a Key-site for Bronze Age Gujarat, reveals the nature and the flaws of the data on which site correlations for over 400 sites are based. It shows that for "Harappan" Gujarat the generally accepted Urban/Post-Urban model has been uncritically applied, since basic chronological sampling errors were committed. Only a small number of sites can be safely correlated. A more regional view reveals that Kutch and the Ranns of Kutch border areas on the one hand and Saurashtra and the Gujarat Plains on the other hand, have distinct time frames and paces of urbanization. The urban organization in Kutch continues into the beginning of the 2nd Millennium, while so-called Sorath Harappan in Saurashtra and the Gujarat Plains acquired through exchanges with the Harappan core area some urban features from ca. 2,350 ВС cal. on. As a periphery this South-eastern periphery showed during the Late Harappan "Post-Urban" times (until 1,850 ВС cal. or beyond) such organization without this level
