L’acquisition du placement de l’adjectif épithète en français L2 par les apprenants sinophones

Cet article porte sur l’étude des erreurs de surgénéralisation concernant le placement de l’adjectif épithète en français L2 par les apprenants sinophones. Nous avons mené une expérience à choix forcé avec trois groupes d’apprenants (niveaux débutant (N = 27), niveau intermédiaire (N = 27) et niveau avancé (N = 25)) dont la langue première et dominante est le chinois mandarin. Un groupe de locuteurs ayant le français comme langue première et dominante a été ajouté comme groupe contrôle (N = 31). Nous avons analysé l’acquisition de la position de l’adjectif en fonction du type et de la longueur de l’adjectif par rapport à celle du nom. Dans la lignée de l’étude de Xie et coll. (en préparation, Xie et coll. 2024), nous avons relevé un phénomène de surgénéralisation du placement postnominal par défaut dans la production de nos apprenants sinophones, en remarquant des erreurs ou usages non typiques tels que ?un mot vilain, ?un champ vaste, *un verre ultime, etc. Par ailleurs, il est important de noter que nos résultats montrent que les apprenants chinois, en particulier ceux des groupes débutant et intermédiaire, ont tendance à surgénéraliser la règle « court-avant-long » dans leur choix du placement des adjectifs postnominaux, produisant ainsi des erreurs systématiques comme *un court pantalon, *un sec saucisson, *un rond bâtiment. La corrélation négative du taux d’erreur avec la compétence en L2 indique que les apprenants avancés commettent rarement ce type d’erreur
