In the abstract of this article (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1093/esr/jcw047), published on 24 December 2016, the words ‘in a comparable review in the field of economics’ have erroneously been repeated. The correct sentence is ‘These results are similar to those of the comparable review in the field of economics’. The publisher apologizes for this error. Further, in the ‘References’ section, ‘European Sociological Review’ is repeated in ‘Leopold, L. and Shavit, Y. (2013). The following needs to be included in the ‘References’ section
