Schlagwörter: Didaktische Materialität; Lehrmittelindustrie; schulisches Wissen; naturwissenschaftliche Phänomene; Ethnographie ----- Abstract „Education in a box“ – the production of scolastic artifacts in the teaching and learning materials industry The teaching materials industry is a research field whose actors translocally shape the pedagogical school practice and its daily learning situations and whose artefacts affect the school situation. The development and “introduction” of these learning objects is a professional practice almost entirely unexplored. This paper will provide insights into ethnographic research, analysing this neglected condition of pedagogical and didactic practice. Material addressing and orientation (to teachers, pupils, customers, lessons, etc.) are examined as the result of negotiations between the representatives of various professions (such as natural scientists, elementary school educationalists, publishers, salespeople, etc.). Artefacts are created outside of the lesson that contain certain external notions of the school and are meant to model teaching practice. Precisely these processes of non-school modelling aimed at school practice will be empirically analysed. In developing a way to address customers for these products, it is important to consider a multi-dimensional school logic. One process described here is “anonymisation”, or the presentation of an everyday and implicitly understood phenomenon in a new, foreign context. Keywords: Education and artefacts; teaching materials industry; scholastic knowledge; scientific phenomena; ethnography ----- Bibliographie: Wiesemann, Jutta/Lange, Jochen: „Education in a Box“.
