This paper demonstrates how the Finland-Swedes maintain their right to receive service in their mother tongue, Swedish, although they make up a relatively small minority in Finland. Approximately 300,000 out of five million inhabitants in Finland define themselves as Swedish speakers. This paper draws from theories of coping formulated by Kenneth I. Pargament and provides an overview of historical and recent times. The general relevant coping mechanism seems to be small-scale imitation in order to build up a miniature world
