The Common Lands of Wales

Based on an analysis of registers compiled as a result of the Commons Registration Act 1965, this paper examines the contemporary distribution of common land and associated rights of common in Wales. Consideration is also given to the conservation and amenity significance of commons, and to the contentious issue of public access. Finally, reference is made to recent demands for a change in the law relating to common lands, with a view to the promotion of a more broadly-based and integrated approach to their use and management
