In his major and minor works, Niccolo Machiavelli composed distinctive guidelines for analyzing situation, audience, and credibility. These principles underscore the value of harmonic technique, a blend of art and nature, in rhetorical discourse. Machiavelli also affirmed this principle by applying them critically to Renaissance political discourse aimed at arbitration, apologia, and exhortation. This essay argues that a Machiavellian perspective derived from these principles and models offers versatile methods for the rhetorical criticism of political discourse, as well as invigorating simulation of the deliberative process itself
