T HE Mexican revolution may be studied from many different angles. The fact that most readily impresses itself upon the mind of the foreign student interested in land tenure is the legal one-the taking of land by the state from one person and the giving of it to another. In the long run, however, the greater significance may be found to attach to the technological, social, and economic change which the transfer of title is producing, and of which it is a part. In fact, it may well be that the Mexican upheaval was a protest against the antiquated, uneconomic, and wasteful utilization of land under the large plantation system
