T HE principal divisions of the Bronze Age in northeastern Peloponnesos were first clearly recognized at Korakou. Early, Middle, and Late Helladic periods were distinguished on the basis of stratigraphy, and the account of the excavations, which was published in 1921, provided a documented framework of relative chronology. During the succeeding generation this was applied and expanded as further investigations were carried on in Corinthia and the Argolid, as well as in districts of closely related culture, Arcadia, Attica, Boeotia, and Phocis, within a radius of a hundred kilometers.'
