The travel cost model was used to estimate the opportunity cost of travel time for recreation trips to 11 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoirs in Kansas and Missouri. The analyses are based on a 1982 sample of 60,000 day-use recreationists. The mean and median value of travel time, expressed as a proportion of the hourly wage rate, at the 11 reservoirs were 0.122 and 0.04
