The author indicates certain influences of her art education that led her to an interest in color as the major aspect of her painting. She discusses in particular the Oswald color system as a means for classifying colors in a meaningful way and for providing a large gamut for her use. She tells of her initial preparation of color charts representative of those in the Ostwald system. She outlines her procedure for the selection of colors and for the preparation and application of opaque oil paint mixtures to canvas to produce paintings that provide the illusion of transparency and of shapes in motion. Representative examples of her paintings are presented. The procedure described may be applied to other types of painting
