AN event of tremendous importance to demographers, geographers, sociologists, and economists took place in the Soviet Union in January, 1959. We are referring to the All-Union Census of the population as of last January 15.1 Population specialists await with great interest the results of this census, the first one in the Soviet Union in twenty years.
