The article first presents the method and consequences of the application of deconstruction in social theory. It introduces the main terms and issues of poststructuralist theory based on the conception of hegemony, which was worked out by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe (Hegemony and Socialist Strategy, 1985). The article then goes on to deal with two different ways of interpretation of deconstruction. It shows Laclau's consequences of further radicalisation of deconstruction in comparison with the stress on the ethical dimension of deconstruction in the late works of Derrida and Mouffe. There are two main tasks: (1) to introduce the conceptualisation of society and politics from the post-structuralist point of view and (2) to determine if deconstruction has its ethical contents
