Un congres eut lieu en 1998 a Sarajevo sur la langue bosniaque, qui fit le point sur la necessite de planification de cette langue. Il apparaissait necessaire d'etablir un statut pour une langue bosniaque standard, correlativement aux langues croate et serbe. Des resolutions furent adoptees pour que des travaux allant dans ce sens puissent etre mis en œuvre
