A new study of the Tale of woe. Since the monographic treatment of that text by R. Caminos, it has received hardly any detailed scrutiny. Here, work is focused on the philological aspects, leading to a better understanding of many passages. Some remarks on the verbal system are intended not only to provide a better basis for translation but also to shed light on the possible date of the composition. A final section sketches the main lines of the content
