Don Nakanishi writes about how thoughts on why he decided to fight for his tenure. He explores the major issues to help others who find themselves in a difficult situation, be it in academics or other areas of employment, and are giving serious thought to doing something about it. The selection of these issues is based, in large measure, on the conversation which Nakanishi had with over thirty assistant professors from across the nation, practically all of whom are Asian American, other people of color, or women, who have contacted Nakanishi in the one-year period after he received tenure
