Amerasia Journal hosted a roundtable of prominent Asian American poets, scholars, and publishers on the Yi-Fen Chou controversy, in which poet Michael Derrick Hudson adopted a Chinese-appearing penname and was ultimately published in Best American Poetry 2015. The participants offered diverse viewpoints on what it meant for Hudson to write in “yellowface” as Chou, as well as BAP editor Sherman Alexie's continued justifications for his selection of Hudson's poems
