This edited collection sets out to offer a cohesive presentation of the ethical context of various aspects of social work practice. It aims, therefore, to be more than a set of individual pieces with a loose thematic connection. It is aimed primarily at ‘social work students and professionals’ in UK social work. Part 1 has a broad sweep, and sets out to provide ‘some grounding in ethics theories and practices [emphasising] important debates around education, identity and reflection’ (p. 3). Chapter Two provides an overview of relevant ethical theories and definitions in a succinct and useful piece by Suzy Dracopoulou. In the subsequent three chapters, a range of issues of relevance are addressed in a broad fashion. Although five contributors are involved in Part 1, it is reasonably coherent and the main topics have some mutual relevance. Nevertheless, it seems rather strange that social justice, surely a key component of the social worker's moral armoury, is relegated to a short chapter at the end of the book.
