In the critical appropriation of Western Marxism carried out in North America during the past decade, the work of Karl Korsch has been conspicuously neglected. While the writings of Georg Lukács, the Frankfurt School, and various French developments have received a great deal of attention in the form of articles, monographic studies, and translations, Korsch is frequently referred to but seldom studied in depth. Although some of Korsch's many political essays are beginning to be translated into English, there is still a lack of serious critical attention to his work as a whole. Korsch has not, however, been ignored in other languages
