This volume is a collection of almost one hundred papers prepared for the philosophical congress of the DDR (East Germany) in 1968, on the occasion of the 150th year of the birth of Marx. It demonstrates the intellectual power which has been there released. It is directed in part against bourgeois Marxist revisionism. The volume begins with a Hauptreferat and concludes with a Schlusswort, both by Kurt Hager. In a short review it will not be possible to discuss the numerous essays, but the content of the volume indicates the philosophical problems which are important for Marxism at this time
