In Latin America, human rights organizations, activists, lawyers, religious representatives and associations of relatives of victims formed a transnational social and political movement that in the last forty years has undertaken a number of strategies to make visible demands for justice, claims for true and memory against governments that have minimized or denied what happened in contexts of military dictatorships, authoritarian regimes or armed conflict. This article discusses emblematic cases of citizen’s expressions that have fought for the rights of victims of violence and political repression in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico
