This is a review by a recently‐retired director in the Norwegian Social Affairs Ministry of Norway's system of administering its social provisions. After a summary of public administration, the social work, social security and health provisions are reviewed. There is a commentary on Labour policies and on housing. The place of non‐governmental organizations completes the over‐view of a country much neglected in British literature
