Gloria Hull, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, is best known as a teacher (professor of English and women's studies, University of Delaware) and black feminist literary critic (All the Women Are White, All the Blacks Are Men, But Some of Us Are Brave: Black Women's Studies; Give Us Each Day: The Diary of Alice Dunbar-Nelson; and Color, Sex, and Poetry: Three Women Writers of the Harlem Renaissance). However, since 1975, she has also published poems in Women: A Journal of Liberation, Callaloo, Conditions, Chrysalis, Obsidian, Ikon, and other journals
