A partir de su amplia, larga y exitosa carrera académica, el autor presenta una serie de reflexiones sobre las ciencias sociales dirigidas principalmente a quienes se inician en su estudio. En particular, aborda los dilemas a que se enfrentan quienes transitan por temas o puntos de vista que los colocan al margen, en la periferia o en las fronteras lejanas. Para ello presenta a un personaje imaginario, un/una estudiante de ciencias sociales buscando un espacio para satisfacer su curiosidad y aliviar el sentimiento de que se encuentra descolocado/a en un mundo académico que no acaba de entender ni de aceptar.AbstractBased on his ample, long and successful professional experience, the author presents a series of reflections on the social sciences aimed at those who begin their studies. It deals, in particular, with the dilemmas faced by students at the periphery, in the margins, or at the frontiers of the social sciences. For that purpose, he creates an imagined student in search of a space to satisfy his/her curiosity and to soothe the feelings of uneasiness that arise from an academic world difficult to understand and accept
