This article considers the arguments against feminism within evangelical Christianity, focusing on the period when the attack began in earnest, in the middle to late 1970s with an update through the middle 1980s. It is based on interviews with some key evangelical voices as well as extensive reading in primary sources, especially evangelical periodicals. The essay also reports the fact that there are supporters of feminism within evangelical circles and it considers their arguments (and reservations) also
