This article analyzes the content of the thirty one extant original letters written by Leonor de Alburquerque and addressed to her son, Alfonso V of Aragon, between February 1417 and March 1419. This epistolary relationship is of great historical value as it highlights the rich political personality of the widow-queen of Aragon and her extraordinary work as the main protagonist of the Aragonese party in the Castilian court during the difficult political situation of the last days of the regency of Catherine of Lancaster and the first period of the personal government of the young king Juan II of Castile
