The Coronels, a converso family, carried out an ambitious policy of purchasing land on the outskirts of the city of Segovia as of the second half of the fifteenth century. This lineage was founded by Abraham Seneor/Fernán Pérez Coronel, the leading rabbi of the Castilian Jewry. His heirs pursued the same course of action by acquiring and amassing properties. The abundant lands administered by members of the Coronel family and the copious profits derived from them, became a stepping stone to join the ranks of Segovia’s urban oligarchy as well as the Old Christian social elite through the marriage of a member of this family to the famous comunero leader, Juan Bravo
