The main subject of this paper is an agreement of 1434 between the Mesta and the Military Order of the Hospital in Castile. The Castilian Hospitallers were owners of cattie since the Tweifth Century. The Order began to impose taxes on the migrating flocks in the Hospitaller lordship of La Mancha in the Thirteenth Century. This was the reason of a conflict with the Mesta in the Fifteenth Century. The probiem was solved by the agreement of 1434. However, the prior of the Hospital in Castile again quarrelled with the Mesta at the end of the Fifteenth Century. In spite of that, the Hospitallers did not help so much to the counciis of their lordships against the Mesta
