The difficulties and even the failure of the urban integration of migrants in developping countries, more particularly that of the inhabitants of squatters settlements, are frequently raised. However, these neighbourhoods show, as well as the behavior of their population vis-à-vis land planning and urban services, flagrant signs of urbanity. Neverthless, this urbanity acquired under the usual constraints of the city' environment is not in line with the typical western model. In Abidjan, it is characterised by a specific africanity which has necessitated the emergence of new planning practices
