Damourette and Pichon daim that negation does not exist in the combination of French "thought-language". The French language has invented a dose equivalent of negation by combining two elements : The "Discordantial" ne and the "Fordusives" set, pas, point, jamais, personne, rien, etc. "Discordance" provoked by ne occurs between "two ideas or two facts" as considered from the subject's point of view. "Fordusion" expressed by "Fordusives" is an operation consisting of putting the notion affected by them aside reality ("forclore"). Lacan has borrowed the two notions from Damourette and Pichon, he has nevertheless considerably altered them. In his opinion, "Discordance" occurs between statement and "enunciation". He has already described the latter in his theory of "the inconscious structured in a form of a language". "Forclusion" is a part of the description of psychosis and is the lacanian equivalent to Freud's verwerfung
