Two kilns of long rectangular shape have been found in connection with a tumulus containing an Early Iron Age chariot burial at Ma- rainville-sur-Madon (Vosges), in Eastern France. They belong to a series of hearth structures dating to the beginning of the Hallstatt period. Comparison with similar kilns from Germany and Switzerland shows that this type of structure may be attributed to an artisanal activity, whose function is still unknown
