This paper examines sports fandom through the lens of women’s spectatorship and consumption at darts tournaments. We explore the extent to which nostalgic discourse has value for sports broadcasting in recreating a ‘hyper-version’ of a traditional public house at live darts events, and in what ways this is experienced and negotiated by women darts fans. The narrative of nostalgia underpins this analysis of women’s consumption of darts, and more broadly, contemporary consumption in popular sports, to sit the paper in the extensive scholastic frame of Sociology of Sport literature. Using auto ethnographic and interview fieldwork, this article therefore advances knowledge on women fans at PDC darts events and is understood as a site of contestation. The carnivalesque atmosphere plays a role in this, as participants were found to perform a sense of identity and form friendships that have materiality in narratives on biography, sociality, belonging and nostalgic consumption
