The Centre for the Study of Migration was established at Queen Mary and Westfield College in 1995 in order to provide a focal point in London for those involved in the study of the movements of people. The following article outlines the aims and objectives of the Centre and the various activities in which it is currently engaged. Details of the Centre's first conference are provided together with outlines of the papers given which will appear in book form in March 1997. In addition the article signals the Centre's next Conference which will be heldon 22 March 1997at QMWon the theme of a Question of Identity
