Historically, there has always been a clash of interests between originators and users of patents and other intellectual property rights. This paper provides an overview of the economic issues behind the intellectual property rights bargain domestically and internationally, now one of the key areas on negotiation in the current Uruguay round. Résumé La propriété intelletuelle et le commerce international Historiquement, il y a toujours eu un conflit d'intérêts entre les auteurs et les utilisateurs de brevets et autres droits de propriétés intellectuelles. Cet article présente une vue d'ensemble des problèmes économiques qui transparaissent dans le marché des droits de propriétés intellectuelles, au niveau national et international, actuellement l'un des secteurs?clé en cours de négotiations au sein du Cercle Uruguayien.
