Σε συνέχεια ανάλογης έρευνας στη Δυτική Κρήτη (BCH 1 13 [1989], ρ. 551-580) πραγματοποιήθηκε το 1989, σε συνεργασία της Εφορείας Αρχαιοτήτων Ηρακλείου και της Γαλλικής Αρχαιολογικής Σχολής, έρευνα των κεραμεικών εργαστηρίων παραγωγής αμφορέων της Κεντρικής Κρήτης, των οποίων η δραστηριότητα κλιμακώνεται από τα ελληνιστικά μέχρι τα αυτοκρατορικά χρόνια. Εντοπίσθηκαν νέα εργαστήρια ή επανεξετάσθηκαν γνωστά εργαστήρια στο Ηράκλειο, τη Χερσόνησο, τον Τσούτσουρο (Ινατο), τον Κερατόκαμπο και τη Δέρματο. Μελετήθηκε η τυπολογία των αμφορέων και διαπιστώθηκε ότι διαφορετικοί τύποι αμφορέων είναι δυνατόν να προέρχονται από το ίδιο εργαστήριο. Διαπιστώθηκαν τρεις νέοι τύποι αμφορέων, οι οποίοι συνυπάρχουν με όλους τους ήδη γνωστούς στην Κεντρική Κρήτη. Μελετήθηκαν τέλος άλλα προϊόντα παραγωγής των ίδιων εργαστηρίων (αγγεία, κεραμίδες κλπ.) καθώς και ζητήματα τεχνικής (στηρίγματα αγγείων, αποτυχημένα αγγεία, υαλωποιημένα τοιχώματα κλιβάνων)
