OVER THE PAST decade-and-a-half, Densho, a nonprofit based in Seattle with ten employees and a $1 million annual budget, has produced a website that has emerged as the acknowledged primary resource for learning and teaching about the Japanese American experience, with a special focus on the wartime incarceration and the continuing ramifications of that event. A pioneering organization in its use of the Internet to make archival content freely available to all when it began eighteen years ago, Densho’s ever-growing site offers a host of possibilities for understanding this aspect of American history
