Diane Vecchio Diane Vecchio Furman University Diane Vecchio is Professor of History at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she teaches U.S. history and immigration history and a senior seminar on the Jewish experience in America. She has published articles on Italian and Jewish immigrants and Merchants, Midwives, and Laboring Women: Italian Migrants in Urban America (University of Illinois Press, 2006). She is currently researching the pellagra epidemic in South Carolina in the early twentieth century and working on a book about Jews in the South.
