Miller is Professor of History at Southern Utah University. He has published articles and books on American Indian history and issues of indigenous identity, most recently Forgotten Tribes (University of Nebraska Press, 2004) and Claiming Tribal Identity (University of Oklahoma Press, 2013). Miller has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and other publications on issues of tribal recognition.
