Emigration and development, the first steps of industrialization in the province of Yozgat. In the rural and underdeveloped province of Yozgat, Central Anatolia, many industrial projects based on local resources have been started since 1973 thanks to a strong flow of emigration towards large towns and foreign countries. As a matter of fact, besides the traditional private sector and the State sector (there limited to a brewery), the bulk of industrial investment has come from the savings of migrant workers. Some were combined with private capital in firms like the Yibitaj holding, others were invested in the so-called "popular sector" including societies and cooperatives. Though many of these attempts failed, they resulted altogether in a conspicuous increase of industrial employment in that province
