Feminist archaeology is a political practice and theoretical approach that places gender at the center of archaeological investigations. It situates archaeology as a feminist practice by examining the ideological structures that dominate both who practices archaeology and how and by whom the past is interpreted. Feminist archaeology has developed from a largely women‐centric approach (e.g., add women and stir) to one that highlights the complexity and variation of gender and its intersection with other axes of identity, such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, age, and class
