Zhang Guangda : Three Examples of the Influence of Mazdeism (Zoroastrianism) in Mediaeval China. The examples described in the article are : 1. The Yellow Pit, huangkeng, mentioned in the Jiu Tangshu as a place in Taiyuan where monks were exposed after death is compared to the dakhma, places for the exposure of the dead, of Iranian religion. 2. The texts relative to worship of the god of Heaven of the Western Barbarians, Hu Tian, are cited from manuscripts found in Turfan and at Dunhuang. 3. A painting in the Pelliot collection (P 4518, pièce 24), is described as showing a striking syncretism of Central Asian and Chinese elements : a four-armed goddess of Iranian origin is shown flanked by the sun crow and the moon cassia of Chinese tradition
