Tree-Ring Date Lists 2019

These results cover the dating of timbers from buildings since the last published list of dated buildings from Ireland (D. Brown, “List 276: Irish Dendrochronological Results from 2010 to 2015,” Vernacular Architecture 41 (2010): 119–22). Thanks are due to the owners of the buildings and especially everyone who assisted in taking the samples. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, http://www.buildingofireland.ie/, was used for obtaining the descriptions of some of the buildings. Most of the correlation values were generated by CROSS84 (M. Munro, “An Improved Algorithm for Crossdating Tree-Ring Series,” Tree-Ring Bulletin 44 (1984): 17–27). Estimated felling date ranges are based on the empirical Belfast sapwood estimate of 32±9 years (M. Baillie, Tree-Ring Dating and Archaeology (1982), 54–60). The Belfast sapwood estimate is added to the last heartwood ring date of a group of timbers or a single dated timber with the heartwood-sapwood boundary or incomplete sapwood present. If the heartwood-sapwood boundary is not present, then 23 (32 minus 9) years are added to give a terminus post quem (‘After’) date.
