The paper analyzes the spatial distribution of a corpus of 694 astragalus bones found in Stratum II at Tel Beersheba. Most astragali bear one or more modification marks-resulting, from burning, drilling, cutting or grinding/polishing. A GIS (geographical information system) spatial analysis of this corpus shows neither a pattern in the distribution of sheep versus goat astragali nor a pattern in distribution associated with their location or modification marks. A group of 345 astragali found in proximity to storehouses suggests that they may have been used as tokens
