This work was based on 337,812 economics journal articles published between 1900 and 2012, as recorded in 576 journals by the Web of Knowledge. International collaboration has been growing and increasingly centering on the most active collaborators in this century. The structure of the collaboration and its evolutionary model were analyzed. The number of economics papers unilaterally contributed by the US is decreasing sharply. In the top 3,000 most cited papers, there is no relationship between the number of country origins of authors of a paper and the cited times that the paper receives. Citations in economics journals and the number of papers appear to follow a power law with an exponent of −0.51
