Healthcare today requires complex interactions between group members, each of whom has a unique role. Nurses, physicians, therapists, pharmacists, social workers, patients and even caregivers (to name only a few) must collaborate to provide quality healthcare. Teams or work groups continually form and reform based on an individual patient's needs. Variations among member's contributions to the group process can influence patient outcomes. Quantitative analyses would benefit from a detailed investigation of the variations among members but frequently reverts to simple measures of central tendencies as a representation of group functioning. The Social Relations Model (SRM) is a mathematical technique used for estimating the variances in groups due to interaction effects from individuals and dyads
