Vestiges lately brought to light in Senlis included housing masonry structures, and a well filled up at the end of the first century A. D. or at the beginning of the second. A treasure trove of 160 coins (cf. article B. FOUCRAY), the most recent dating back to 190 A.D., was found on the steps of a gallo-roman cellar staircase under the remains of a lime kiln most probably associated with the building of the 3rd century city wall, a few metres away. A study of pottery finds (cf. V. PISSOT) confirms destructions on the site in the course of the 3rd century. Examination of animal bone remains evidence the presence of the black rat at that time (cf. S. LEPETZ). Sampling taken from the circular well supply environmental details on the first century A.D., with the noteworthy absence of woodland (cf. BUI THI MAI)
