Among the late Roman fine-ware imports into Northern Gaul, the omnipresent terra sigillata from Argonne constitutes the dominant group. For a long time, more «exotic» imports seldom went beyond the Seine valley. Exceptionally, some original elements are beginning to appear in the mass of data from current excavations. The discovery of «Dérivées de Sigillées Paléochrétiennes» («by-products of early Christian sigillata») thus comes to break a certain monotony and attests particularly complex long range exchanges, less fixed than might be suggested by the domination of sigillata from Argonne. Unfortunately, the rarity of the «DSP» means that for the moment they cannot be used as reliable chronological indicators
